From The Mind

Oracle Cards & Referral Gift!

OracleClassFlyerimageDo you ever struggle with what direction to take or which choice to make? I know I do! In fact, it happened today. I wanted desperately to make a big decision between two courses of action to take, and started to “over-think” my options.  I felt urgency and anxiety. I needed to listen to my intuition, but my mind was tangled by doubts and uncertainty. Help! I needed a quick, direct line to clear Higher Guidance. So I got out my favorite oracle card deck (it’s called Energy Oracle Cards by Sandra Anne Taylor).

How does anyone manage to trust the cards, you might wonder. The answer is to build up the inner trust muscle, by practicing. Just like any muscle, “use it or lose it,” as is said! It builds faith to learn over and over that we’re being guided by a very powerful inner GPS every day. But we must remember to let the guidance flow; Over-thinking is a big hindrance. It helps to ask for Spirit’s help on a regular basis. Humbling, right?

In this case today, I kept doggedly pulling cards, trying to figure out which choice might have a better outcome. Both choices had similarly good outcomes and this only increased my frustration. A little voice within told me to sleep on it. I decided to draw one more card, in hopes I could make my choice before bed, and be done with it. My, how willful the mind can be!

The card drawn was “Patience”.  I quote, “relax and let go of the single-minded desperation that’s been driving you. Don’t try to force your will on only one option…you are blocking many other potential solutions from coming your way…the universe has more options than you may be aware of.”

How awesome a response from Spirit is this? Spirit reads me like a book, and knows what my anxious mind can’t! I feel immense gratitude for this incredible love that the Divine has for each one of us. So, if you feel like oracle cards are calling your name, and if you live in the Chicago area, come join our class on Wed., October 26, to play with oracle cards, and tune into the Higher Guidance that is available to all. For more details, click HERE.  Early registration discount ends Oct. 17, so don’t delay contacting me if you want to sign up or have questions – paula@fromtheheartcenter.com, or 773-791-8425.

One more thing – I’m running a little “something special”to help spread the word about the healing work I do, and to show you my deep gratitude for your wonderful referrals: Through now and Thanksgiving, if you refer a new client to me who has a session, you’ll get 10% off any of one of my services for yourself, and that includes buying a gift certificate for someone. So please spread the good word to someone who may not know of energy healing options

Many blessings,

Paula

Fairy Tales Can Come True…

bright picture of adorable baby boy over white

“….it can happen to you, If you’re young at heart”. Remember the song that Frank Sinatra and Walt Disney made so famous? If you aren’t familiar with it or would like a boost of innocence, wisdom, and sweet hope, have a listen:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anlz3EuuhWo

The song is a classic because it speaks to the hunger in so many of us to recapture our innocent joy and the fulfillment of our youthful passion and dreams. Even if your childhood was challenging, as so many childhoods are, perhaps you can remember certain times or activities that brought you great joy and a sense of autonomy — or a connection to something bigger than your family.

For me, getting on my bicycle seems to instantly conjure a powerful memory of joyfully riding my bike alone, at about age 10, to my piano lessons at the home of Mrs. Bonebreak (yes, it was really her name!). She was my piano teacher who lived about 6 or 7 blocks away in our subdivision. I know it wasn’t far, but I guess part of the thrill was feeling a little like a grown-up, out on a mission after school, without parental supervision or my younger sister tagging along.

Perhaps part of the joy was also about my dreams of creating music. In the beginning, I think I had fantasies of being a great piano player someday. Unfortunately, my first big recital, in front of maybe a hundred or more people, was nerve-wrackingly overwhelming and, in fact traumatizing, causing me to toss my dreams of future piano playing. I am not going to blame my parents for letting me quit – been there, done that. And I really wasn’t all that talented, to be honest. Nevertheless, live music can move me now to blissful tears of joy.

But I digress; the point I’m trying to make is that when we are young, we have innocent hope, and we have dreams. As we age, “life” happens to our heart-felt dreams, and they begin to calcify. Perhaps we settle for less than what we had been hoping for. Perhaps loss, disappointment, self-judgment, and resignation creep in, along with hectic schedules, grown-up responsibilities, diminishing physical vitality and just plain not as much fun…need I say more? Can you relate a bit?

As our fun shrinks, so can our gratitude and even our hope. This will surely make you feel and look old. I’m often reminded of that saying that goes something like this: It’s easy to be grateful when you’re sitting down to a feast; but the challenge (and mastery) is to be grateful when you’re starving. How do you hang on to gratitude and youthful hope when the external world isn’t giving you what you are wanting?

The key is to remember to return to feeling “young at heart” by refreshing your spirit when feeling overwhelmed by all the grown-up stuff – the constant bills, the heavy schedules, the inevitable communication problems, the inevitable losses, lack of sleep, disappointment, and more. Feeling young is to be curious, to be open to the new, to take risks, to play, and to be vulnerable. Without vulnerability and some risk-taking, nothing new can come in; you’re only replaying the same old patterns, beliefs, and habits. Life gets small if you lose fun, courage, and hope – please don’t let that happen. Find what puts a “song” in your heart. Here are 7 things I do regularly to keep my heart feeling young:

  1. I have a daily meditation practice to turn inward; it’s a time for only my authentic, inner experience – not attending to the needs of others or the perceived pressures of life. This is refreshment from the Source! Drinking in the sweet juiciness of the present moment, there’s nothing to do but just BE. The more I drink, the sweeter I realize it is. I also feel blessed that I can give myself Deeksha to quickly connect with this sacred space.
  1. If I’m so unhappy that I can’t conjure up the will to meditate, I play some of my favorite music to lift me out of dullness or funk. If it moves me to dance or sway a bit, I’ve struck gold!
  1. I get outside and move the body. One of my big joys is simply taking a walk in a natural setting. Walking can be great meditation, as can any athletic movement – swimming, biking, running. Yoga is great. All kinds of movement get me out of my head and into my body. Bodies are made to move and we can help shift stagnant energy in our auric energy field by moving.
  1. I feel my emotions as fully and as much as possible. I let myself cry, laugh heartily, love, or feel absolutely despondent. Humans are meant to feel; this, too, shifts stuck energy in our field.
  1. I create; Creativity is our very nature. For me, it’s writing. For someone else, it might be anything from sculpting, to cooking, gardening, or re-organizing the garage. I recommend doing what makes you lose track of time!
  1. I call or hang out with loved ones and friends when I’m feeling hopeless or low. Even though it might be your inclination, I don’t recommend isolating yourself when you feel unlovable. Humans need humans, or perhaps an adoring pet, to remind you that you’re not alone in this world.
  1. I give away my time, talent, and treasures. You’ve got to give it away to have it! When you feel depleted, that’s the time to help someone, somehow. Like it’s said, it’s easy to be grateful at a feast, but when you’re hungry, this is the time to rally – even if you have to fake it ‘till you make it, if necessary. Give!

And here’s a really powerful secret: Give away what you want to receive. It really works. Perhaps you won’t receive what you’re hoping for, on your timetable, and perhaps you’ll not receive it from the source you give to, but do give with faith, as if you have a limitless supply; for in fact you do. The universe is constantly flowing energy, so get in the flow of life to stay young at heart…your fairy tales might just come true!

FEEDBACK from some previous shamanic tele-class participants:

“I LOVED the tele-class format. One reason I loved it was because of convenience (no commute, doing the class in my own home… and not having to drive 30 minutes home, etc.). I also found I felt very deeply connected with the other participants, so I didn’t long for an opportunity to meet in person. Also, with the shamanic journeys, I felt much more comfortable letting go, releasing, and being with whatever showed up because I didn’t have an “audience” and because I was in my own safe space. I actually think I would have a really hard time journeying in person with a group of people (or at least a much harder time). “                                                                                                                                 -S.G., Chicago area

“I think the class exceeded my expectations. As I’m coming to learn, when I explore my spirituality I often get different outcomes than I expected. Not only did I grow spiritually, I learned so much more about myself and my truth than I anticipated. Most of what I learned was a surprise but in retrospect I can see why I’m being guided this way.”                                                                                                -J.S., Minnesota

“I am so thankful that I was able to participate in this special class. I feel like I have established a foundation for daily meditation and have become more self aware of my self-limiting beliefs.  Class was also a great reminder that I am not alone in this physical journey.  I am grateful for the seeds that have been planted and I am excited for the continued growth ahead!”

Hmm…what should I do?

OracleClassFlyerimageEver struggle with what direction to take or what choice to make in your day-to-day life? I know that I sure do from time to time!

Sometimes when we want clear guidance desperately, the hardest thing is not to have mental interference in intuiting what’s best for us. We don’t want to be listening just to the mind at times like this…we want to be listening to our heart too.  Heart wisdom is the best kind of wisdom there is. The heart knows what it knows. The heart doesn’t waver in its knowing, but the mind loves to step in and present all the options.

The mind can take you on a looping journey through the ins and outs, the pros and cons….the safest route, the most predictable result, the answer that will preserve your dignity, pride, self-righteousness, and the protection of your vulnerability till death do you and your ego part!

The mind is a fantastic tool, don’t get me wrong…but when the mind serves the ego instead of the heart, then the higher wisdom you seek can be blocked.

At times like this, I tune inward. I sit with my question. I feel into it. I listen to my body. I play with a little muscle testing.  If I want a quick and easy way to connect in to a much greater and more complex network of wisdom than my ego/mind can afford, I’ll also pull an oracle card, or several cards.

I have a number of different oracle decks, including the traditional tarot deck, the Runes,  and the shamanic medicine cards, among others. I love them all. Each deck offers a slightly different perspective, but all of them offer a much more global, wiser, and universal, birds-eye view of life on this planet as a spiritual being having a human experience.

Being lifted above the minutia of mental details can be a real gift of sanity. Even if I’m resisting the message of a card that I picked, I usually sense its rightness. If that happens, I remind myself that it’s okay to feel resistance…and that practicing “staying with” one’s resistance is an extremely worthy spiritual endeavor as well. In fact, it’s a powerful doorway to actually moving into effortless action.

To “stay with” is to just “see.”  Just see your resistance and where your mind takes you at times like that…see the stories the ego weaves of injustice done to you.  See the emotions that arise and stay with those emotions. Eventually, one can move through resistance if the desire is there.  Not everyone wants to move through it, though, and that, too, is okay.

If you’re in the Chicago area, and would like a powerful evening of playing with oracle cards and tapping into inner wisdom, please join us on Wed., August 10, from 6:30-9:30pm in Deerfield, IL. I’m teaching this class with my friend and colleague Savita Jachim. The fee is $54 if you register by August 5, so don’t delay! It will be fun and give you some great tools to use next time it’s 2am and you can’t sleep because you’re mulling over a choice. Click here for the flyer with all the info!

One other little reminder – if you need some guidance and can’t get clear on your own, I’m always available to give you an Akashic Record or clairvoyant reading! A little bit of help can go a long way.

Many blessings,

Paula

Soul Retrieval Sale/When is a cat just a bag?

OzzieStairs

I was taking a walk yesterday, and about halfway down the block, I spotted what appeared to be a cat stretching and rolling around on the sidewalk. I eagerly advanced toward it, excited, because I’ve been missing my two dear kitties that passed away last year.

As I got closer, I began to wonder if this really were a cat. It occurred to me that it might be a bag flopping around in the wind. My curiosity peaked; I wanted it to be a cat. Very closer to it, I ultimately saw that it was only a plastic bag stuck somehow on the sidewalk, batted about by the wind.

Laughing at myself, I realized this is a great metaphor for the power of perception to color our reality. The way we approach anyone or anything in our life is colored by the desire to see what we either want to see or what we predict based on past experiences. Our perception, or mis-perception, powerfully shapes our reality. Both quantum science and spirituality attest to this fact.

I’ve written often in this blog about the rise in self-awareness that comes through awakening. Due to many things, the “collective consciousness” is going through some massive shifting now. The “collective unconsciousness” is apparently awakening to all sorts of injustices, for instance, which have been going on throughout the world. The collective consciousness is increasingly informed by more self-awareness — and why? One reason is that internet, social media, television, and print media are contributing toward widespread information about humanity and this planet. We see everyday the good, the bad, and the extremely ugly snapshots, for instance, of the capacity of humans for expressing violence as well as love.

Another contributing factor is the large number of people who are engaging in psychotherapy, meditation, energy healing, yoga, and other means to actively cultivate self-awareness. We are collectively realizing that what we don’t know (the unconscious patterns that sabotage relationships, health, and inner peace) actually threaten our well-being and the well-being of others. Because we are all connected, our struggles impact the lives of those who love and care about us, and whom we are charged with taking care of (our children, clients, customers, etc.) The perceptions we bring to our day-to-day lives affect how we treat others and how we are treated.

How many of us are, at this moment, churning within about how someone has mistreated us? Who’s ego is not, in varying degrees, caught up in the perception of societal blame for today’s problems or even our own blame of our parents for our problems today? We bring those childhood wounds/perceptions to each relationship we engage in as adults. Plus, we bring our karmic (including past-life) wounds to present-life relationships. Our lives are an utterly confusing portrait of our churning, inner consciousness or unconsciousness.

If you are feeling baffled and buffeted by repetitious patterns in your life, you are not alone. To sort through all our perceptions and misperceptions is an enormous task of awakening. Rising self-awareness is a process that gradually reveals when something is a “cat” or simply a “bag.” With each new insight, each tiny revelation or huge revelation, there is a gift of inner freedom awaiting each of us.

Inner freedom gifts us with clarity to “see” life as it is – to accept life on life’s terms, not resist it because of our own willful, wishful thinking or past wounding. Inner freedom gifts us with emotional flexibility, emotional intelligence, emotional connection, inner joy (a natural state not dependent on the immediate people or circumstances of our lives), and very importantly, the ability to serve the world better—endowing us with more empathy, right-action, forgiveness, love, and consciousness for the world.

We can have better relationships. We can move beyond the voice of the bloated ego-mind that is always striving to “get what’s mine.” We can move beyond that inner-two year old who is perpetually in a tantrum, still wounded by the unfortunate failings of our parents and still searching for the love they thought they should have received. With self-awareness, we see our inner-two year old in action, instead of projecting it on our loved ones. We see our own anger just might be colored by very old, unprocessed anger from childhood – perhaps not entirely the fault of our loved one’s perceived imperfections.

On the awakening path, I’m continually shown skewed perceptions in myself that I wish weren’t there. It’s very humbling. Frankly, the collective ego-mind sure needs humbling. But skewed perceptions are there and the world is what it is. There are skewed perceptions active in others (for instance, certain political figures) that I see, which I’d rather weren’t there – but that’s just where that person, and the collective, is in consciousness. What I can personally do is to stand in the tiny bit of clarity I do have, knowing that as I grow in awareness and clarity, others are likely to be positively affected too.

Here’s a personal stand I put before you today: my job is to do the work I do; I need to do it for my own joy and satisfaction. Plus, I believe deeply that the work helps others. Since you all have your own perceptions to sort through — a humongous task, indeed — my work is to support you in shifting what’s showing up in your lives and to be a channel for a rise in consciousness. The shamanic soul retrieval work I do can assist beautifully in those areas. With soul loss comes consciousness loss – it’s a survival mechanism that helps us endure the unendurable. Soul loss happens due to emotional loss, trauma, accidents, illness, divorce, various emotional/physical deprivations, abuse, karma, addiction, and more. With soul retrieval comes a rise in consciousness.

I’m offering a financial discount today to those who want assistance but feel they can’t afford a soul retrieval – or to those who just love a sale! I offer my broadest, most comprehensive of sessions, a soul retrieval, at a discounted price of $108, for a limited time.

I am offering a 2-hour shamanic soul retrieval, done by phone or skype, for $108. Just mention this blog post when you contact me. It must be scheduled and pre-paid (credit card okay) by April 11….and you can receive the session between your date of booking and May 13. After April 11, the price returns to its normal $185. Such a deal!

Contact me at paula@fromtheheartcenter.com with any questions or to schedule an appointment.

Wishing you inner freedom and self-awareness! And don’t forget, if you are interested in attending the upcoming The Phenomenon And The Gift course in the Chicago area on May 20-22, the deadline for the early-bird registration rate expires April 15.  For more info and registration for this inspiring event that initiates you to give Golden Orb Deeksha, click HERE

2016 Prediction: Radical Release

Image: PeacockI opened the Akashic Record for my blog, in search of inspiration for the new year. The Records say this is the year to be free – radically free from the prison of inner conditioning! Break through all the walls which have kept you from joy, for it’s only the constructs of the mind that imprison the magnificently irrepressible Imagination, where true inner freedom lives.

What do you want for your life? What do you want in that secret heart of yours, that beautiful heart that loves to play with joy? Hand in hand, your heart and joy will spin off adventures of Imagination with money, sex, food, love, ease, comfort, wonderful weather, and magnificent strangers who suddenly appear bearing all manner of Grace. Let loose, and with childlike abandon, the heart will joyfully unleash an unedited torrent of creative potential.

Allow this to be the year where Imagination is set free and honored in your life as the most extraordinary guest imaginable. Open the door and let this treasure enter; give it an honored place at the table and feed it the most delightfully tasty nourishment. Then let go. Please, let go of judgment, limitations, concern for practicality, for everything….because your limiting mind only knows how to imprison, and that’s what stops us from dreaming our lives into being as limitless as they could be.

It is your Imagination that knows how to truly live big. There is one place where your divine inheritance is pure freedom, and that place is where Imagination dwells. That place may be called Divine Mind or it may be called Heart or Creativity or Abundance or Spirit…no matter what you call it, it is limitless. If you permit it to have it’s way, Imagination has secrets to share, and it wants to share them loudly.

Most of the time we only let Imagination speak in hushed whispers, and then try to control its subversive wildness. “No way,” we say…or, “Who me? That will never happen.” And why? Because, as Einstein so well knew, the same mind that creates our limitations can never see beyond them. For it is the Imagination, not your small little monkey mind, that truly has the power to break through the chains of limitation. Imagination is mighty and perhaps even quite shocking at times. Sometimes, our dreams really scare us because we are so concerned with how we could possibly create them. Our fear and self-judgment kill the sparks of Imagination before they have a chance to really catch fire.

So we “politely” dream our dreams and love to call them “intentions” at this time of year. We all want a fresh start, but why is it that intentions often fail? One glaring problem is that the word “intentions” has become so goal-oriented that it can be joy-sucking and, thus, limiting. “Intention” can take the wild beast of abundance and beat in down to the ground, tie it up, and put it in a box with a pretty ribbon and bow. Example:

My New Years Intentions (she earnestly writes):

  1. Lose 5 pounds.
  2. Make more money.
  3. Stop procrastinating and feel more motivated.
  4. Give more free talks to generate business.
  5. Go to networking events.

Yes, these are all terrific goals, but when you want some real breakthroughs, you’ve got to make a juicy power-move: Start to truly live  (in your private imagination) in the sweetness of experiencing your goals as if they are already manifested, and then let go of figuring out the grueling effort of making them happen.

Example of revised (and now juicy) intention list:

  1. Be so sexy and toned that I can hardly contain my own radiant sexiness, especially with gray hair and the magnetic presence that comes with age.
  2. Feel worry-free and relish the trips, dinners out, music, and great medical care that I can afford with the abundant money I gratefully receive for sharing my natural gifts and talents.
  3. Burn in my red-hot desire to write a book, bring order to my desk, and have a sparkling kitchen floor.
  4. Feel so blatantly passionate about the work I do that I absolutely crave creating opportunities to share with people about it. I’m in love with letting my Divine talk through me!
  5. Simply allow the universe to bring the right people into my life – and joyfully show up for new opportunities to create more abundance and love in my life through meeting other people.

What are your dreams? Release the inner “no” that says you can’t have them or can only have “appropriate” or specific versions of them. Release the haunting voices that say you don’t deserve the vastness of your Imagination. Just play and believe that we live in a loving universe that wants to move you toward joy and inner freedom. Dream the joy big – feel the joy through imagination- and then let go, knowing that it’s being handled for you with Grace, in the right time and in the perfect way. Your doubt is what stops you, so right here, right now, take that doubt and toss it in a deep, dark well. Give it to the Earth to transmute. Leave behind the conditioning that limits, and embrace the creative impulse to dream life into being. This impulse is in your DNA. You are creativity itself.

This little piece of hopefully-inspirational writing came from the Akashic Record just for you, my dear reader, but would you like an Akashic Record Reading or Clairvoyant Reading even more specific to unleashing your own uniquely personal dreams and desires? Could you use a little help releasing the grid-irons of unconscious repression that dampen your imagination and insight? Do you want to know that brilliant Self of yours that dreams the dream of life?

If so, there are only 2 days left to take advantage of a little new year’s special I’m offering:

Purchase an hour-long Akashic Record or Clairvoyant Reading by December 31, and receive 10% off.  The Reading can take place in January or February, but must be purchased now. That’s $108 instead of the regular price of $120 for a phone/skype Reading. If interested, contact me at:

paula@fromtheheartcenter.com to make an appointment or for more info.

Here’s to radical release and the inner freedom to create a joyful, abundant life in 2016! Starting with yourself, please join me in dreaming a new world that’s living outside the box and within the heart!

May I give you a gift?

Happy Solstice – and I have a gift for you in honor of the return of the Light!

If you’re reading this on Tuesday, December 22 or later, you survived the shortest day and the longest night of the year on December 21, which is recognized as the Winter Solstice. Tonight, I’m feeling just a tad bit en-Lightened as I witness the clock measuring the turning point of Darkness into Light. Hooray, we’re headed back into Light! If I seem a bit giddy, my apologies, but it’s truly because darkness has been such a relentless foe in 2015. For me, it felt like Darkness chased me in the proverbial desert for 40 years. I know some people say it’s good to “befriend” the Darkness, but I believe in politely declining its invitations to linger…and then armed with as much spiritual power that might be harnessed, getting the heck out of its life-sucking clutch.

It’s been a “dark” year for so many, even at the height of summer’s glorious sun. The darkness of the Solstice metaphorically represents the inner darkness as well as the absence of daylight, and many people, myself included, have been struggling with particularly “dark” aspects of the inner realms in 2015. This darkness has fear at its root. The outer world always reflects the collective inner world, and our chaotic, fearful planet continues to reflect an over-growth of spiritual darkness in all the murders, wars, poverty, plundering, and conflict happening now. Yet, we persevere in our desire for  peace and joy, and I’d like to commend the courage, resilience, and strength that constant perseverance takes.

Must we all go into the desert of despair at times? It’s hard to avoid. But as dark as it might get, and as devoid of hope as it might feel, it’s  important to keep rediscovering the Light as it returns over and over again. Actually, we all have many light switches available – at all times – to turn on the Light…the trick is to remember we have the power to flip the switch whenever we need to do that. That power lies within each of us.

We can turn on the Light ourselves through daily meditation practice – and I can’t recommend that enough. Just sitting with our feelings can help them move through. Just observing the mind in action frees us from the mind’s grip – breaks up identification with it. But when we feel overwhelmed or stuck,  we might turn to others who share other sources of Light, including: energy work, readings, healing modalities…in fact, there are so many beautiful, energy-based systems available now to shift fear into love, and stress into peace. Also, just sitting with a friend or in a group, and letting yourself feel safe and seen can be lifesaving.

If you resist these helpful practices, ask yourself if your resistance and suffering is serving your best interests. The answer is always going to be that resistance only drags you and those around you deeper into darkness. Please find the courage to dare to change. Do everything in your power to move toward the Light. The world’s future depends on it – truly.  Even picking yourself off the sofa and taking a walk, or calling a friend is a good step.

If you think you can’t meditate, let me highly recommend a fabulous free phone App called “Insight Timer.” There are currently over 800 recorded, guided meditations available on this App. It’s like a playground for spiritual warriors. Just pick whatever meditation calls to you and let yourself be guided to some inner peace. It’s such a beautifully easy way to allow change to take  you over.

I won’t kid you — we all know that it can sometimes feel like a like a moment to moment, life or death struggle when we are really depressed, or sad, or anxious…And I don’t want to minimize the suffering that we go through, but in addition to all these tools that can flip the Light switch, one of the best places to fall into is the warm, heart-hug of gratitude.

I’ve been in times of fear and hopelessness, when all paths “out” have looked like dead-ends; but then one little baby step toward Light can shift the heaviness. One little step in the direction of gratitude…just speaking words of gratitude can elevate and reveal new opportunities, changes in perception, and unexpected acts of grace. Even if you don’t feel grateful, just saying the words, “I am grateful for …” have a mighty power to ease your mind out of the garbage. Gratitude is a veritable lifeline to inner equilibrium and to the self-love from which sanity is reborn. Gratitude softens the pain. It reminds us that we have, indeed, been blessed before by the universe, even if we’re feeling down now….and plants the seeds of hope that we can feel blessed again.  And we will be!

Even if you don’t love yourself, I’m going to tell you that you are loved by this thing called Life. In celebration of life and the return of Light, I would like to give you a holiday gift. Please accept this little token of my love and appreciation for all of you who read these writings, who have the courage to seek freedom from suffering:

Image: Happy sun

I’m going to share some Light for the next 10 days, through December 31 – I’ll be sending group intentional Oneness Deeksha twice a day, morning and evening, to anyone who sends me their name. Time To Come Home & Sept. Offerings

Image: Happy sunWell here we are at the height of summer, heat and all, receiving a rare, intense treat – a Blue, Full Moon – and I’m hoping you’re fully experiencing the yin and the yang of it all. Remember long, hot summer nights when you were a kid? Perhaps if you’re like me, and you played hard outside until the sun had set and the mosquitoes were torturous. Perhaps your mom or dad called you in, and in you went; reluctantly, loudly complaining. But once you brought your sweaty little self inside, you gratefully gave in to that delicious tiredness that comes from fully experiencing the heightened delights of summer!

That little kid in us is still alive, you know. She or he still feels exquisite joy, great excitement, terrifying fear, pain, and deep sadness at times. Kids feel intensely and somehow many of us have done our best for years to subdue that natural intensity. Guess what? Much of it is trapped within, snuffing down the pleasure as well as the pain. When we go “inside” – that is, internally – we can heal and release it.

It’s time to come home to our authentic essence – to that inner kid, and to the comfort and peace of what is eternal and essentially within. As a world community, we’re exhausted from the frantic “doingness” that’s gone on for centuries—building, conquering, consuming, fighting, searching, and struggling in general. We’ve spent years pursuing pleasure, security, knowledge, and success. We’ve been looking externally for all these things – and now, on a global scale, it’s time to come home to our internal world to truly manifest the happiness we desire.

Most of us come home kicking and screaming on some level. We call that “resistance.” We want what we think we want….yes, the ego likes to have it’s own way. Think of a four year old’s tantrum who can’t have ice cream when she wants it; for that’s how the ego/mind often responds to life. The ego kicks up a lot of noise, confusion, conflict, and suffering. What’s on the other side of all that drama is simply peace, acceptance, and joy, our natural, internal birthright.

Even as we’re immersed in the incredible beauty and power of the natural world at this time of year, the wise, Inner Self knows that as autumn comes delicately approaching, we’ll be gently slowing down to reap the harvest of all this summer’s intensity. As long as a summer day and night is, that’s how inevitable is the time to look ahead to taking a breath and harvesting the abundant wisdom of this year.

So in that spirit of opportunity for growth, peace, and expansion, here are a couple of upcoming events to harvest the inner gold that awaits our attention. If you’re in the Chicago area or would like to visit, think about attending these special offerings in September:

New Year’s Resolution: Giving Up Resistance

I did a radical thing yesterday; I cancelled my cable television and Tivo service. I needed to do something to dramatically shake up the entrenched viewing habits I’d acquired while writing a book these past six months.

If you know me, you probably heard that I’ve been purposely living a pretty cave-like existence in order to meet a publisher’s strict deadline. I worked long hours, over many months, refraining from much socializing and consciously limiting distractions. I got into a work routine that typically allowed relaxing only late at night with just a few friends: primarily Oprah, the Channel 7 news teams, and the wildly entertaining cast of Dancing With The Stars. Thanks to Tivo, I was never at the mercy of prime-time television schedules, but I’d begun to forget what real, interactive fun feels like. I got lonely at times, but I also realized I can be quite solitary and be just fine…for a while.

Like most things in life, timing is always perfect, though not always comfortable. Thankfully, the book is terrific (as you’ll find out when you read it) and it will be heading toward the publisher’s office in just a few days. I’m almost feeling free again and can’t wait to get out of my apartment and spend time relaxing with real live people! My constantly hovering cats and I really got to know each other too well, if you can imagine what I mean!

I’ve come to the end of one adventure and the beginning of a whole new phase — right along with a brand new year. 2014 was a year of intense change and transformation for many of us. There’s so much global change going on now. We know that transformation is not necessarily easy or comfortable. It’s human to try to escape at times; most of us also try to fully experience the “what is” of the moment as best we can. But for many of us, we’re in a constant state of low-level resistance and denial of the unpleasant aspects of what’s going on. We’re really not experiencing the “what is” very much at all and much more like unconscious resistance “machines.”

When an experience or phase of life is completed, can you feel satisfied with the ending of what was and fully let it go? Or do you resist endings too? Many of us struggle with that. Do you hang on to the past, re-living it in your mind or secretly hoping for a different outcome? All of these mental acrobatics prevent us humans from simply being with “what is.” If we just let go of our resistance to reality, we can much more comfortably embrace the exciting unknown of what is now. When we stop resisting, we’re in the flow, which is a natural state of joy, lightness, and inner freedom.

I’m finding that as I’m going through transformational experiences, it’s helpful to consciously intend to open to change. Change can feel downright scary. Releasing habits, friendships, jobs, or old ways of being can cause ripples of fear and resistance to change. The only solution is to face our fear head-on. That fear lives deep within each of us, among many other buried emotions, though they’re all often held unconsciously.

If you look within, you’ll see feelings such as fear, anger, sadness, and frustration living in your body as muscular tightness and pain, shallow breathing, inner conflict, headaches, stomach aches, fatigue, judgment, depression, apathy, or the desire to distract or numb oneself with substances or activities (just as I did with television watching for a while.) All of the things we do may temporarily help us cope with the uncomfortable feelings….until they just don’t work anymore. We can run from fully experiencing our feelings, but we can’t hide forever.

The question is, can we consciously and courageously let buried feelings express and move through us? Yes! When we feel our feelings fully, they energetically move, lift, and leave us light and unburdened. With the release of energy blockages due to stuffed feelings, comes clarity. We come to see that change is the absolute, fundamental nature of all life and ultimately, resistance is not only futile, but quite destructive to health and happiness.

Experiencing the emotions brought on by change can free us. We can observe our life and choose a new direction when we’re ready (or at least a little willing) to let go of what was. We can experience fear and move through it. We are not our fear.

Who are we then? After or during a period of intense change, it pays to stop and just entertain that question for a while. It’s good to pause, and allow the essential you to breathe in the stillness; to let go of resistance and thus allow life to flow through you. Don’t try to force an answer or slap on a pretty bow. Just be with what’s there. Become aware of resistance. You might find that layers of unpleasant feelings have been stuffed down, needing to be experienced and released.

We don’t need a big “dark night of the soul” to feel the fear of not being sure of who we are anymore, where we’re going, or what our purpose is, – unsettled feelings are so often lurking just below the surface of consciousness in times of heightened change, even good change. We can just hang out with our evolving beingness (as in meditation) and we’ll experience all the “gook”we try hard not to see. Looking inward, breathing deeply, experiencing what’s there and relaxing into it … that’s all we need do to keep ourselves flowing.

It’s natural to possibly feel frightened and perhaps overwhelmed at times with the vulnerability of the undefined, unpredictable, and basically empty/full nature of the Self. That vulnerability is probably why the mind resists feeling so much. That’s why our egos have us trying so hard to be perfect and to feel in control. That’s a good reason to meditate or get some coaching, healing, or help – to move through the machinations of the fearful, controlling, distorting mind that prevents inner peace.

I was in an uneasy place these past few weeks, as the writing of the book was winding down. Like a baby in the womb, the book had grown within my care, and then suddenly passed through me, fully birthed, and leaving this body to the essential stillness that was there all along. I evidently felt an unconscious loss and tried to avoid feeling that for a while….I’m human. But running from feelings never works (how well I know that!) and I asked my Divine for help when I became aware that something was off kilter.

Besides the guidance to shut down t.v., I was Divinely reminded of a beautiful poem by Mary Oliver that movingly speaks to letting go, to self-acceptance, to knowing our natural connection to all life – and to allowing life to live through us, as it always does. The poem is called “Wild Geese” and begins like this:

“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.”

You might want to “google” the whole poem; I find it a gentle, healing experience to read it. Like much beloved art, poetry speaks to my heart, reminding me of what I already know. I love that phrase she uses, “let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.” It’s a gorgeous message to simply allow your primal, instinctual and authentic Self to just shine. It knows what to do. It knows what it loves and needs. It connects you to all life; it allows life to live through you. There’s nothing to figure out with the mind. In fact, we can’t figure out this mysterious thing called life. We are simply one with it and can experience it through the primal senses. We can trust that everything is perfectly moving us toward love and goodness...we can relax, let go, and allow something greater than our minds run the show. So will you join me in giving up resistance for 2015?

I wish for you a sense of safety, love and goodness, no matter what is expressing in your life right now. May you know you don’t have to be perfect to be loved. May your holidays and every day of the year be filled with the blessings of grace. May your consciousness transform your life. May you allow life to flow through you as love.

Awakening to Oneness and the Oneness Blessing Phenomenon

If you’ve experienced my work or read this blog before, you may have become acquainted with the Oneness Blessing.  It is a transmission of  energy which can catalyze a shift in consciousness that can result in permanent awakening.  This energy transmission comes from India, from the visionaries who founded Oneness University there — and its profound effect is sweeping the globe.  It is not a religion, nor does it ask you to follow any path.  In fact, the Oneness Blessing phenomenon supports each individual in following their heart, and in achieving the freedom to be their unique self.

This energy can be transmitted through the hands of a Oneness Blessing Giver and the energy can also be powerfully transmitted through the eyes of people who are especially attuned to share what is called the Oneness Meditation.  The energy can also be transmitted through the intention of a Blessing Giver, without even the use of hands.

The energy transmission that occurs during a Oneness Blessing  is hard to describe and will have a unique effect on each person who receives it.  Each time you receive a Oneness Blessing, it may feel different to you, as well.

In general, people who have received the Oneness Blessing have reported increased feelings of joy,  release of tension and stress, sense of inner peace, calmness, feeling lighter, releasing mind chatter, becoming more self-aware, receiving insights, feeling gratitude, feeling connected to everything,  sometimes physical healing, and feeling closer to whatever they consider Source.

Over time, especially with repeated Oneness Blessings, many have reported a falling away of addictive patterns, more harmonious and heart-connected relationships, a sense of purpose, more balance in their life, being in the flow of life and abundance, and, in fact, many miracles.

Speaking from my own experience of permanent awakening, I can say that all of these benefits of receiving the Oneness Blessing are the gifts of an awakened life.  Becoming awakened is actually a permanent neuro-biological shift in the brain – a shift that launches a path that can conceivably evolve into enlightenment, a state of total unity consciousness.

Which is why I would like to urge everyone to receive Oneness Blessings and, in fact, consider becoming a Blessing Giver.   When you give the Oneness Blessing, you also receive it … and there is an exponentially huge benefit to being able to give it.  Not only does it accelerate the transformation of your own consciousness, but it also gives you “sat karma” — the Indian term for good karma.  The law of karma is that what you give out comes back to you – so the more good you give, the more good flows back to you.

To be able to help others grow in consciousness is one of the highest forms of giving.  How powerful it is to create more happiness in the world!  How fulfilling to help someone step into their higher consciousness potential.  Not only that, but to actually change the world, we all must find happiness and peace within our self.  When you can find it within and are able to help someone else find permanent inner peace and joy, then I believe you are truly co-creating heaven on earth with Spirit, one person at a time.

People in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and more are receiving and giving Oneness Blessings now.  This is a world-wide phenomenon.  The world is on the path of transformation, and though there is much darkness to move through, the future holds hope for generations to come.

If you are interested in taking the weekend training that initiates you to become a Oneness Blessing Giver, there is one coming up in Chicago on June 28 and 29, 2014, at Bodhi Spiritual Center.   The course is a deep dive into exploring your relationships with others and your unique relationship with Spirit. It is filled with processes, meditation and Oneness Blessings to move you toward a state of flowering of the heart.   To register for the course, go to: www.bodhionenessawake.eventbrite.com

If you live out of town, please contact me for more information on finding a Oneness group in your vicinity or to have me do a training course in your area so you can have a community of people who are transforming in consciousness.
