Happy Spring! Life is all about cycles, and we’re now officially into a cycle of re-birth and renewal. Spring brings hope with it. I think many of us are struggling with that precious commodity, hope, in these difficult times. Thank goodness nature is getting ready to re-invigorate us with blossoms, color, and sunny warmth! We need it.
I was born close to the spring equinox so my birthday, which was a few days ago, always signifies something hopeful to me… a fresh opportunity to grow wiser, happier, and healthier. It turns out that I stumbled into a brand new endeavor last year that’s really shaking up my life with new focus and excitement, and it’s coming into full bloom very soon.
It certainly wasn’t on my radar to go back to school at my advancing age, though I know I’m apparently a life-long learner and late-bloomer. But I was guided to enroll last fall in a certificate program with an extraordinary school named the Institute of Integrative Nutrition®, or IIN® for short. Perhaps you’ve heard of it – it was the first of it’s kind about 25 years ago and it’s globally recognized for it’s unique integrative approach to training coaches of holistic and healthy lifestyle.
I’m nearly half-way through the year-long program and what I’ve learned so far is really eye-opening. Soon I’ll be letting you all know more about the support I’ll be offering for the holistic health of body, mind and spirit. This is just a teeny preview because I absolutely can’t wait to start this new type of coaching!
I’ve always been considered a “health-nut,” in the eyes of some family members and friends. Part of that was a natural resonance with the seeds of the mass consciousness slowly awakening to ancient practices of yoga, spirituality, and whole health back in the sixties and seventies, when I was coming into adulthood.
I know now that this type of holistic consciousness is radically in need of awakening in America. In fact, it’s dangerously in need of awakening in a big way! We have become a fast-food nation, overweight and under-nourished by the things that matter most in life: relationships, physical activity, spirituality, meaningful work, and unprocessed, non-pesticide-ridden, whole food. Our health care system is questionable. The value placed on disease prevention is minimal. Our health and food options are influenced by marketability, convenience, big business, and government. It’s time we took back our power over our own lifestyle. Without good physical health, it truly is challenging to be happy, peaceful, and fulfilled.
I’m thrilled that I’ll be bringing forward a new evolution of a fundamental passion of mine: holistic health coaching that supports you in taking ownership of a healthy lifestyle on all levels. I’ve been working for over 23 years as a channel for energetic healing and reconnection to Spirit. Now I’ve been guided to help you stand in, and for, the health of your lifestyle; Because your beautiful, sacred spirit needs supportive practices and a healthy body temple to really shine brightly in its mission here on Earth.
It takes a strong intention, perseverance and a lot of clarity, nowadays, to dig for the physical causes of disease and work through the maze of theories, treatments, and countless methods of finding balance within and without. In my shamanic work, we can find the spiritual cause of a disease or imbalance – but when it reaches the physical level of manifestation, one needs to address it physically, too. What I see, very sadly, is a lot of people on medication to control symptoms, not really addressing the cause of the symptoms which might require changes in lifestyle, career, or relationships. Symptom-control is profitable for Big Pharma, but not for you in the long-run.
Because of lack of information or deeply conditioned habits, it sometimes requires support to craft a lifestyle or make changes that prevent illness from evolving. The hectic pace and chaos of life now work against us. Many of us are struggling just to keep our heads above water – to get enough sleep, enough relaxation, enough exercise, love, healthy food, etc…. I hope to be that coach who supports people in listening to their own inner guidance and taking charge of their lifestyle, diet, spirituality, and exercise choices. I’d like to see everyone living long, radiant lives on all levels of body, mind, and spirit – and in a way that is wholly unique and pleasing to them.
