Being Love

Today you need to know that you are so very loved. You are so held and lit by the love that is the essence of each of us.  There is nothing in your essence that isn’t lovable, for you are imbued by what we call life, which is love. The ability to hold that unconditional space of love for others is your highest contribution to this world.  Just be the love, truly. And hold that for your family, friends, co-workers, clients, students, recipients of your energy—all, who are companions in your journey.  There is nothing for you to do but to hold that space for others, and the rest will flow.  You will be guided, and, always, you are protected by love.

THE SUPPLY IS WITHIN

You have only been naïve to the power of love within you.  You thought it had to be given to you by someone. No, it is for you to give to others. Yes, you have needs, and those needs are supplied as you give love. You receive your needs as you give love. It is within you, for you, and for you to give to others. The supply is within.  The supply is not external. You don’t have to go chasing after it.  We are addicted to running from discomfort and running toward what we perceive is relief from suffering. The state of addiction is the compulsion to receive externally, what can only be received internally, to be truly fulfilling.

RECONNECTION IS NEEDED

Yet there are times when we feel lost, empty, stuck, or rudderless.  I’m not saying to deny yourself support to move through these situations.  But know that you are not broken. You are not defective. What you need is help reconnecting to who you already are.

In the practice of soul retrieval, the shamanic practitioner is bringing to you parts of your soul that have disconnected due to trauma. This disconnection is a survival mechanism that helps us endure painful situations that are too much to bear. But the disconnection can cause stuckness, after the trauma has passed. So you must energetically reconnect. The word soul might be understood in the sense of conscious awareness. The more consciousness, the greater your ability to see who you are…to see that you are love, higher intelligence, compassion, and wisdom, and the greater your ability to access these innate qualities.

DISCONNECTION IS EVERYWHERE

Times are pretty traumatic now. There is a lot of serious disconnection going on in some people, who are acting out dangerous unconsciousness. We see it in the news daily, as violence, war, disrespect of nature, and greed.

Then there is the disconnection we all bring along from childhood or past lives. There is also a more typical, daily repression of uncomfortable feelings that goes on in most of us. Repression or denial stands in our way, so often, of being these higher qualities of our essence. The blockage of the flow of emotions that arise as we go about our daily journey of life can create blockkages in our physical bodies, affecting health, in our spiritual hearts, and in our concsious awareness.

HOLDING LIFE

We may have deep resistance to feeling the “yucky” parts of life.  As others may disappoint you or as they may please you, I recommend that you sit with the emotions that arise from both conditions. As life causes extreme sorrow, pain and loss at times, it also inspires great love, joy, and compassion. Neither polarity is more sacred than the other.  Sacredness lies in being fully present to all that arises.  To hold it in the container that is you; to be the container, and hold the life flowing through you with conscious awareness and compassion for self and others — this is awakening to being the conscious, sacred vessel that you are.

SIMPLE TOOLS FOR RECONNECTION

There are so many tools that people are teaching now, to feel more peaceful and open-hearted. It’s like a feast of methods and paths now, and that can feel overwhelming.  So today let me remind you of a few simple, daily tools you can use to fully embrace life as it is — in its often uncomfortable or downright painful, yet perfect, imperfection:

1. BREATHE: Pause and breathe deeply into this moment. Use deep, belly breathing and long, slow exhales. Pay attention to just deep breathing for a few minutes.

2. FOCUS WITHIN, HOLD SPACE FOR: Then turn your attention to your heart area, throat, and belly. Feel anything going on in your torso region. Be curious. Notice tightness or pain or emotion if it is there. Perhaps there is fear there, which is such an everyday companion. Just breathe in and out, into the discomfort, while noticing and feeling whatever is there. Let it just be - hold space for it.

3. TRANSMUTE: If there is sadness, fear, and grief, it would be in line with an awareness of what is occurring in so many sectors of the world now. I am not an expert in Buddhism, but there is a beautiful Buddhist practice to transmute suffering through breathing. It’s called Tonglen practice: Breathe in your own or someone you know’s suffering, or the suffering of a struggling world, and then breathe out compassion and peace. I refer you to a wonderful explanation of this simple practice in this Pema Chodran article: https://www.lionsroar.com/how-to-practice-tonglen/

WE HAVE THE “NOW”

What if you took this thought into your day today:  All I have is this time of now, and I will give myself over to it fully.  I will feel it all and open my heart to the world. I will not hold back the love that is me.

Let me know how all this goes for you! I hold you in my heart while we take this journey together.

With love, light and hope,

Paula
